Year-End Recap: Celebrating a Successful 2016

The end of the year is a great time to reflect on all that was accomplished throughout the past 12 months. We want to take this time today to recap the big happenings here at Digital Nirvana in 2016.

Throughout the year, we introduced several new technologies to the market, including the latest version of our MonitorIQ media management platform. Version 5.0 allows cloud-based recording and OTT stream monitoring, and includes a VOD Server to view content on any connected Smart TV device. Available as a SaaS model that can record and monitor IP-based streams in a virtual machine, MonitorIQ 5.0 supports HTML5 and HLS streaming and includes a new, easy-to-use interface for faster content search and retrieval. The MonitorIQ platform delivers a full range of multi-channel signal monitoring, logging, compliance and archiving functions, along with competitive analysis and content repurposing capabilities.

Another area of advancement for Digital Nirvana in 2016 was our closed captioning offerings, as we unveiled new automated closed captioning and caption synchronization services. Integrating cloud-based technologies and an expert captioning team, Digital Nirvana provides closed captioning, near-live caption synchronization of clips for IP delivery, automated captioning and much more – helping broadcasters to save time and money and comply with FCC guidelines.

This year we also introduced our transport stream recorder solution, CAR/TS (Capture, Analyze, Replay Transport Stream). Available as a standalone product and included within the MonitorIQ platform, CAR/TS records and monitors the transport stream, provides alerts on non-compliance, and enables users to cut segments and export sections of the transport stream for more detailed analysis. CAR/TS also offers time-shifted playout for multiple time zone broadcasts, along with a disaster recovery solution for keeping a broadcaster’s signal on-air with recorded content.

In addition to unveiling new technologies, welcoming new customers, and forming new partnerships in 2016, corporate philanthropy has been important to Digital Nirvana. In 2016, we were involved with several non-profit organizations that make it their mission to fight societal challenges, including thehomelessness epidemic, social injustices and violence against women and children. Digital Nirvana has been involved with a number of non-profit organizations based near our company headquarters in California, including Bay Area-based SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments), Abode Services, PBS member station KQED and Neighborhood Funders Group. We have every intention of continuing to be involved in bettering our communities in the New Year.

From everyone here at Digital Nirvana, we’re wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous 2017!

Fremont, CA, March 14, 2016 – At NAB 2016, Digital Nirvana, developers of a media management platform for content creation, capture and delivery, will introduce a transport stream digital recorder, available as a standalone product. Digital Nirvana will exhibit in booth #SU10410 during the annual convention to be held this year from April 16-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Called CARTS (for Capture, Analyze, Replay Transport Stream), this new platform records and monitors the transport stream and provides alerts on non-compliance as well as the capability to cut segments and export sections of the transport stream for more detailed analysis. CARTS will also offer time-shifted playout for multiple time zone broadcasts as well as a disaster recovery solution for keeping a broadcaster’s signal on-air with recorded content.

“We’re very enthusiastic about this year’s NAB,” said Hiren Hindocha, President and CEO, Digital Nirvana. “We’ve got real solutions to the issues broadcasters have been concerned about. The new CARTS product is an ideal system that allows the operator to monitor transport streams in real time and create clips that can be fed to a transport stream analyzer for deeper diagnostics. CARTS provides a cost-effective way to stay on-air in case of a facility or broadcast chain disaster. With it, every call letter TV station or network can have a disaster contingency solution at a low cost.”

CARTS records transport streams from ASI and stores them within the MonitorIQ platform. Real-time alerts are generated for MPEG stream compliancy issues without the need for a dedicated transport stream analyzer. It can extract sections of the stream as a separate file for deeper analysis by a third party transport stream analyzer. A cut/clip file can be created from the low bit rate proxy viewed through the Web Interface. The transport stream file is created as an export format option. Other features include:

  • The ability to monitor multiple transport streams
  • Provides alerts to pending problems with the stream with moderate level of insight (TR101-290) into the root of the issue
  • Multiple streams can be monitored with sections extracted for deeper analysis

Digital Nirvana’s CARTS standalone unit records transports streams from ASI and plays out the time shifted transport stream via ASI. Time shift functions can be programmed with configurable time delay, one, seven or 14-day delay. CARTS protects TV stations and networks from ever being off-air.

“Broadcasters are transitioning to an IP environment and at the same time leveraging the cloud,” continued Hindocha. “It’s our vision to expand our offerings beyond traditional broadcast media, offering powerful tools to help our customers monitor and manage any type of media in the entire ecosystem. Our mission is to deliver these tools with an ideal combination of price and performance.”
